Opportunity Quilt

Annually, guild member's may submit a design idea and the design that is selected is made by Guild members who wish to participate. The quilt is used as a fundraiser to support the many Guild's activities. Late Sunday afternoon of the April Quilt Show the winning ticket was drawn.

2022 Dizzy Geese Opportunity Quilt has been completed under the expert direction of Holly Casey and with the help of many guild members in what was described as “controlled scrappy”. Holly used every block received to complete the queen size quilt that measures 84”x114”.
We would like to thank Rita Jacques for her dedication and efforts as our 2020 Raffle Quilt Marketing Coordinator.

After much investigation into virtual quilt shows as well as communication with the City of Pacific Grove, your Quilt Show Chairs and The MPQG Board have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Quilt Show. There is little hope that the City will allow gatherings as soon as the May date for Good Old Days and a virtual show involves a great deal of preparation time and, as quilters, creating a quilt show website is not our core competency.

We truly regret missing out on another show.

You might ask, "What about a quilt Show in August or later in 2021?....” Well, with so much uncertainty about when the state will open for large gatherings and planning required, we came up with an alternate plan. The July General Meeting has been designated “Quilts by the Bay” night. We will have a slide show of the quilts you would have entered in the show and some entertaining viewers choice categories. Of course this won’t be the same as seeing your wonderful quilts in person but it seems to be the best we can do until vaccinations are widespread and our community opens up again.

Thank you for your understanding and work on those show quilts!

Usually more than 200 quilts are on display ranging from traditional to modern to art and annual challenge quilts. The show also features a Mini Quilt Raffle where you may win one of the beautiful, small-scale quilts made and generously donated by members. You may also purchase tickets for the annual Raffle Quilt which is a large fundraiser for the causes of the guild. Drawings for the Mini Quilts and the Raffle Quilt are held Sunday afternoon. Always a favorite, the Garage Sale promises gently used sewing and quilting supplies plus a vast array of fabric.See below for quilt show information and forms.
