Our History

AFTER COVID: Meetings will be held the first Monday of the month at the Pacific Grove Community Center, 515 Junipero Street (at 15th) in Pacific Grove, unless a change is published on this website or in the Newsletter.  A social period begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.  Directions. Guests are always welcome and are asked to pay a $5 fee to attend the evening program. MPQG Committee tables line the meeting room from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.  These tables are staffed by the worker bees of the Guild including those from Workshops, Charity Quilts, Block of the Month, UFO Project (Un-Finished Objects), and Membership. They're ready to tell you what is happening. Workshops are held several times each year.  Knowledgeable quilting teachers present one or two-day workshops which are usually scheduled for the weekend before the General Meeting.  Paid reservations are required. The Library has a wonderful variety of quilt-related books available for perusal during the social period before the general meeting. Members may check out books and DVDs for a period of one month. The fine for an overdue item is $1.00 per month. A list of books is available at the library and online at Library.

Currently, we are using ZOOM to bring fascinating speakers to guild meetings, have illuminating workshops, and let us share our quilts with each other on a regular basis.  Check out the Newsletter for our current schedule

Community Outreach efforts provide both neonatal and lap size quilts, plus heart-shaped pillows to several local non-profit organizations. At the general meeting, the Community Liaison committee member distributes packets of fabrics and patterns, which may be used by members to make the quilts.

The Grants Program awards small grants to groups that provide educational and creative programs that are consistent with the MPQG Purpose. Requests are accepted annually between August 1 and December 1 with the Grants awarded each January.  To learn more about the grant programs click here.  If you would like to a Grant application click here.

Friendship Groups

Friendship Groups are open to all members.  They consist of small groups of Guild members who get together regularly in a variety of relaxed atmospheres.    These groups offer an opportunity for members to develop friendships, share quilting interests, techniques, and skills in a small group setting.  Activities may include one's own project, group projects or challenges, afternoon libation, as well as charity quilts.  No member fees, no requirements, no roll call and no obligation.  Just drop in and say hello or stay and join the fun.

All meetings are now on ZOOM or outdoors with masks and proper social distancing. Call or e-mail contact name below to get ZOOM link for meetings.
